I bought these to add some embellishment to a Henry VIII of happy memory, costume that I had purchased from Amazon a few years ago.In the sixteenth century, pearls were even more expensive than they are now. Of course they didn't have the technology to create cultured pearls. While the Chinese invented a sort of cultured pearl in the fifth century, it wasn't until the early twentieth century that they came to the European, and American markets.Henry VIII of happy memory was very fond of pearls as they were a sign of his great wealth. What we in the eighties called conspicuous consumption. But I digress, I was quite pleased to find out that there was such a thing as half pearls, because quite frankly I wasn't looking forward to hand sewing a hundred or more round pearls to the costume. These fit my purposes to a T. All I'll have to do is glue them on. What could have taken days or even weeks, will probably only take hours. At 10mm in size they're big enough to look realistic, but small enough to not be gaudy. Color wise they're a decent pearl white. From a distance they might look realistic. As to their functionality, I can't really speak of that because I haven't actually used them yet, but I'm sure that they'll work just fine.I really don't know why Amazon wants me to talk about stickiness, because they're not peel and stick. Even if they were, I've had enough experience that I would glue them on anyway. So in conclusion, if you need a bunch of inexpensive fairly realistic looking faux pearls these will probably function just fine for your needs, and you won't have to worry about the daunting task of hand sewing hundreds of them on to your project.
